In addition to Varsity intercollegiate opportunities, USCGA offers a variety of club sports. This program provides exposure to an expanded number of team and individual sports while at the same time promoting physical activity, teamwork, and leadership development. Cadets may choose to participate in one of these as their primary (mandatory) sports activity or play in the off-season of their intercollegiate sport.
Club sports are those activities not included in the USCGA Varsity Athletics program (NCAA/ECAC/NEWMAC), but are distinguished from intercompany sports by the fact that they still enjoy high level intercollegiate competition and a faithful following of fans. Several club sports have achieved regional and national recognition in their field of play. Further, there are athletic activities such as bowling, boxing, fencing, golf, scuba, ski and snowboard and surfing, which are offered outside the intercompany and club sports programs that are considered leisure activities.
