Hello! My name is Ellie Wu. I’m Taiwanese-American from New York City. I love to travel and run cross country. I grew up going to my local elementary school and local high school, so the Academy was definitely outside of the little “box” I called my life. During the college decision process, I was looking at a lot of the private colleges, but I didn’t know what I wanted to major in or what I wanted to do with my life just yet. The Coast Guard Academy really attracted me because it gave me a sense of direction and purpose. So far, I love the Academy. It can get challenging, but it’s so rewarding to be able to end each day feeling accomplished.
Outside of the Academy, I love hiking, spontaneous adventures, running with dandelions seeds in my hands, baking Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies in the wintertime, ice-skating, stargazing (if there were any stars visible in New York City), watching Disney movies, drinking bubble tea, and I think I can live off of just eating Italian food or sushi.
If you have any questions about the Academy feel free to email me at Ellie.Wu@uscga.edu. I would absolutely love to help and I hope you enjoy my journals!
