Hello! My name is Matthew Kim and I’m from Temecula, California.
Back in high school, I enjoyed participating in many clubs, playing tennis, and being a part of a JROTC program. I have been interested in the Academy since my junior year of high school once I had learned about and applied to the AIM program. Since that week, I had made it my goal to work my absolute hardest to one day become a cadet at one of America’s finest institutions. The Coast Guard Academy is different from the other military academies in that it is so much smaller – making way for a true family-like experience. That’s what I really look forward to, especially because my high school had almost 900 students in the graduating class, making it difficult for me to get to know everyone.
At the Academy, I hope to be involved with many different activities including the tennis team, the Asian Pacific American Council, and many more! I’m excited for what’s to come and am glad that you can join me as I take on the United States Coast Guard Academy.
