ABOUT NICK

Howdy, my name is Nick Wittrock, and I am from Dillon, Colorado. I am in the Class of 2019, which currently makes me a 4/c! As I stated, I am from Colorado so I love snowboarding and the outdoors. I also enjoy shooting the occasional 18 holes on the weekends, and playing guitar. I am proud to say that my brother and my sister are both enlisted Coasties, so I aspire to join them in the fleet one day. In high school, I knew very little about life at the Academy. I never visited nor did I attend the AIM program. My first impression of being a cadet came on R-Day, which did not make me feel too welcome but, now as a 4/c, I feel included in the corps.

After high school, I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona because I did not receive an appointment to the Class of 2018. At Embry-Riddle, I studied Aerospace Engineering and red-shirted on the wrestling team hoping that I would receive an appointment to the Class of 2019, and in March I did indeed receive that appointment!

So far, the Academy has been more than I expected. In the few months I have been here, I have spent time in New York City and Boston and met several influential people such as the President of Georgia (yes, the country, not the state) and Captain Sully Sullenberger.

For those who did not attend AIM or Cadet for a Day and for those who are second time applicants don’t be worried! I was in your shoes just a year ago. If you have any questions email me at Nicholas.J.Wittrock@uscga.edu; I would love to help. Go Bears!
