ABOUT LEAH

Hi! My name is Leah Llewellyn and I am from Cecil County, Maryland. I didn’t know that I was going to come to the Coast Guard Academy until practically the last minute before I had to make a decision. Besides choosing between military and civilian colleges, I also had to decide between the Coast Guard and the Air Force. My father graduated from the Air Force Academy and my sister is a 3/c there now. I ultimately accepted my appointment to the USCGA because of its humanitarian mission and its incredible stations, but I also loved the campus and the relationships that all the cadets had with each other because the school was so small. I hope to someday do the exchange program to Air Force to see how different my life could have been, but I know I made the best decision in coming here.

I originally thought that I would play volleyball and join the Glee Club when I got here, but when that didn’t work out, I started looking to try something new like crew and the Equestrian Club. That’s one of the great things about the Coast Guard Academy. There are so many opportunities to expand your interests and find new things you love to do. When I have some free time, I also enjoy photography and playing the guitar.

If you have any questions for me, feel free to email me at Leah.L.Llewellyn@uscga.edu. I would love to hear from you!
