I grew up in a Coast Guard family, as my dad was a 1977 Academy graduate. I never considered attending the Coast Guard Academy until well into my sophomore year of high school, after visiting numerous other schools and thinking about doing Air Force ROTC. I visited the Academy, took a tour, and later attended the AIM Summer Program. I liked the size (less than 1,000), the Division III athletics, and the values and mission of service.
Now, this place is my life. Waking up at six, going to classes, participating in cross country, swimming, or track, visiting with friends, and staying up late to finish homework; it is a non-stop process. And something tells me it will all be worth it.
