My name is Kirsten Sharp, and I am a 4/c at USCGA. In my mere few weeks here, I have already joined the USCGA Lady Bears Dance Team, Track and Field, International Ballroom Dance Club, Women’s Accountability Group, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Mock Trial and Debate Team, and am an active member of the Officers’ Christian Fellowship. Needless to say, I am keeping extremely busy. Although this leads to endless nights that turn into mornings, I am truly happy with my decision to attend the USCGA. I am having the time of my life and have already gotten to travel and do so many things that I would not be able to do if I had chosen to remain a civilian. On top of all this, I have already made lifelong friends that I know are going to be serving beside me for years and years to come.
You can’t go wrong with any of the opportunities here. From being a pilot to a boarding officer, there is something for everyone. For me personally, I have no clue what I want to do yet. And that’s okay. What I do know is: I want to travel and experience life on all seven continents. I want to build a bridge. I want to save a life. I want to be invited to the White House. I want to witness a miracle. I know these are just dreams but I also know that I wouldn’t be capable of dreaming this big if it weren’t for the USCGA. I am looking forward to my future career as a cadet and commissioned officer in the greatest service in the world.
