U.S. Coast Guard Academy
LT Travers graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 2006 with a degree in the Marine and Environmental Sciences, and reported to the icebreaker USCGC Healy (WAGB-20) in Seattle, Washington as a Deck Watch Officer. After two years of supporting scientific research missions in the Arctic, she reported as the Executive Officer of USCGC Mustang (WPB-1310), a patrol boat based in Seward, Alaska. Following her second afloat tour, LT Travers returned to Seattle to attend graduate school at the University of Washington, earning an M.S. degree in Physical Oceanography in 2012. Her thesis work focused on the use of Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) to quantify sea-ice volume flux through the Bering Strait. After completing graduate school, LT Travers reported to the Coast Guard Academy where she currently serves as a Marine Science Instructor.
