“The management department does an incredible job drawing connections between the in-class concepts we learn and the time we will spend both in the Coast Guard and after. From Personal Financial Planning where we invested in a mock stock market and analyzed real-world results, to Human Resource Management where we learned about increasing female retention in the Coast Guard, each class has a unique way of providing lifelong applications.”
On an outstanding faculty
“The management faculty are truly dedicated to the success of Cadets. The willingness of civilian faculty to work to understand the unique challenges we face at a service academy, coupled with the military faculty’s efforts to provide career guidance and mentorship creates an environment primed for academic, professional, and personal growth.”
On setting us up for the future
“The most valuable lesson I have learned in the CGA Management department is the power of networking. Small class sizes give each cadet the opportunity to build one-on-one connections with both professors and professionals in the field. There have been multiple times when professors have helped introduce me to experts who can help me pursue my interests outside of class. I have built relationships that I will draw on for years to come.”
