PVermeer

LCDR Vermeer reported to the USCGA Department of Mathematics in the summer of 2021 from CGA’s Office of Institutional Research, where he served as the assistant director from 2017 to 2021. Prior to his CGA assignments, LCDR Vermeer served aboard the cutters ANACAPA (2000-2001), ALBACORE (2001-2002), RELIANCE (2006-2008), and ASPEN (2008-2010). In 2015, he returned to CGC ANACAPA as its commanding officer, leading at-sea law-enforcement, maritime security, and search and rescue missions in some of the most remote locations of Southeast Alaska. Between afloat assignments, he worked as an Operations Research Analyst in the Office of Budget Development for the Coast Guard’s Deputy Commandant for Operations. He holds an MS in Computational Operations Research from the College of William and Mary and a BS from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in Management. He is an active mentor in the CGA Cadet Mentoring Program and is a Faculty Fellow of the Admiral James Loy Institute for Leadership. He lives in Essex, Connecticut with his spouse Victoria and their two boys.
