Swab Summer

While other college students are making lattes and working the drive thru, you’ll be experiencing Swab Summer. It’s the beginning of swab (freshman) year, the first part of the rigorous yet amazing journey taken by new cadets. It is the most difficult and demanding period of military training you will experience as a cadet, taking place over a period of eight weeks, one of which is aboard the tall ship EAGLE.

It will be tough, but it will be more rewarding than any freshman orientation out there. At the end of Swab Summer, you and your classmates will understand the expectations of cadet life, will be prepared to work as a team, and outpace the competition at every turn.

Preparing for Swab Summer

The Admissions Office will help you get ready for Swab Summer, explain how and when to report, and detail what to bring with you.
