Institutional Accreditation
The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) is one of seven regional higher education accrediting bodies in the U.S.
The USCGA and other institutions of higher learning achieve accreditation from NECHE by demonstrating they meet the Commission’s Standards for Accreditation and comply with its policies. The USCGA received full ‘Continued Accreditation’ in January 2021.
NECHE highlighted the exceptional faculty, staff and students that make up the Academy and the quality of the formal and informal interactions as a key contributor to our ability to graduate leaders of character for service to our nation.

Accreditation of Marine and Environmental Sciences Major
The Academy’s Marine and Environmental Sciences Major is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Accreditation of Engineering Majors
The Academy’s Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering majors are all accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Accreditation of the Management Major
The Academy and its Management degree program are accredited by AACSB – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This is an unusual mark of distinction for a college as small as the Coast Guard Academy.
