LT Katie Glashagel

CGA wordmark

Hi! My name is Katherine Glashagel, but I go by Katie, and I am currently serving as the Midwest Admissions Officer. I am from Niantic, Connecticut, and grew up spending plenty of time on and around the water.

After graduating from the Coast Guard Academy in 2021, I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii for my first tour on CGC WILLIAM HART, a Fast Response Cutter patrolling the main Hawaiian Islands and the South Pacific Island regions. During this tour I earned my Deck Watch Officer qualification and travelled as far as Tahiti, Rarotonga, and Samoa. After that, I moved to Alameda, California for my second tour in the Pacific Area and Southwest District Joint Command Center. There I earned various qualifications leading to my Command Duty Officer qualification where I was responsible for coordinating Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement operations for the entire region, as well as monitoring pollution response, marine safety, and homeland security.

In my free time I like to spend plenty of time outdoors at the lake, the beach, or on a hike with my family and chasing our 1.5-year-old son around.

I am excited to get to know you as you discover more about the Coast Guard and how the Coast Guard Academy can be a part of your future!
