Football and Friends

Hayden Anderson | September 5, 2023
Hayden Anderson - 2025 Sports at the Academy is a large part of the cadet training process. I am a part of the football team and have found it to be one of my favorite things about the Academy. The stresses of the Academy can be cumulative at times and when I get to go to practice between 1600-1800 every day, I get to completely forget about everything else and just play the sport I love with people I enjoy being around. I have found that the time I am in season for my sport I tend to do the best in classes due to receiving that two-hour break everyday instead of trying to work on academics all the time. Sports teams are also where you meet some of your best friends that you will be able to lean on when times get tough. I have found that there are vast numbers of ways to become active throughout the Academy. There are enough varsity and club sports that everyone finds their interest in. Being a division 3 school as well shows that everyone plays the sport for the enjoyment of the sport rather than because they must. I have found that the Corp of Cadets is also highly supportive of all sports and it’s hard not to go to an event where you don’t have fellow cadets supporting Bears athletics. We have also just newly received an updated weightlifting facility located in Roland Hall which I have found to be so helpful in taking my game to the next level. If you have any questions regarding if a sport is offered at the Academy, feel free to reach out any time!
