How did you hear of the Coast Guard Academy?
I first discovered the Coast Guard Academy while researching colleges that could offer me both strong academics and opportunities to continue growing athletically. As I explored my options, the Academy stood out because of its balance between rigorous academics, physical training, leadership development, and service to the nation. The more I learned, the more I felt drawn to the Academy’s mission and unique environment.
What is the #1 thing you’ve done to prepare for AIM?
The biggest thing I’ve done to prepare for AIM has been training for the PFE. I committed a lot of time to staying in shape, focusing on improving my push-ups, sit-ups, and running. In the beginning, it was definitely challenging, but over time, I saw significant progress.
What do you expect to have in common with your fellow AIMsters?
I believe my fellow AIMsters and I share a strong sense of determination, discipline, and resilience. We’re all coming to AIM because we are eager to challenge ourselves, grow as leaders, and explore the possibility of serving our country. Even though we come from different backgrounds, I expect that we will all share the same drive to make the most of this experience.
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m most excited about the opportunity to meet new people and build meaningful relationships with my fellow AIMsters. I’m also looking forward to finally experiencing the Academy in person, beyond what I’ve seen online or read about. Being able to step onto campus, participate in the training, and get a true glimpse of cadet life will help me better understand whether this path is the right fit for me.
Any hesitations about your AIM week?
No, I don’t have any hesitations about AIM week. I’m going in with an open mind, ready to learn, push my limits, and see if this path is truly the right fit for me.
What do your peers think about your service academy aspirations?
When I shared the news about my acceptance to AIM, my friends and peers were supportive and excited for me. Many congratulated me and encouraged me to make the most of this unique opportunity. They’ve wished me good luck and are cheering me on as I take this important step toward potentially pursuing the service academy path.
