How did you hear of the Coast Guard Academy?
I heard of the United States Coast Guard Academy through my older brother, who is currently a cadet at the Academy.
What is the #1 thing you’ve done to prepare for AIM?
To prepare for the practical side of AIM, I have bought all the necessary supplies and clothes. For the physical side, I have been consistently working out. Additionally, I have been discussing with my brother the potential challenges I may encounter throughout the program.
What do you expect to have in common with your fellow AIMsters?
One of my main concerns before entering the program is whether or not I will be able to wake up early and function for the rest of the day. I assume that I will not be the only one tired, though, because I cannot be the only one whose sleep schedule changes when summer starts.
What are you most looking forward to?
I look forward to meeting new people. I think it’s super cool that people from all parts of the United States will be there.
Any hesitations about your AIM week?
The only hesitation I have before AIM is whether we will have good weather, as a super hot or rainy day would put a damper on my experience.
What do your peers think about your service academy aspirations?
When I tell people that I plan on going to the Coast Guard Academy after my senior year, they often get it confused with the National Guard or with straight-up enlisting. Some view it as not a huge deal because my brother did it first, but I am proud of him and look forward to my own experience at the Academy. This is a great opportunity, and I want to make the most of it while I’m there.
