How did you hear of the Coast Guard Academy?
Receiving an appointment at the United States Coast Guard Academy has been a lifelong goal of mine. I first set my sights on the Academy in fourth grade when my uncle shared with me his time at the Academy and active duty in the Coast Guard. He is a graduate of the class of ‘94 and has been an inspiration to me as I’ve continued to strive towards this goal.
What is the #1 thing you’ve done to prepare for AIM?
I have primarily prepared physically. Because I have wanted to attend the Academy for so long, the PFE has been one thing that I have been working on for a while. I have been consistently running, doing planks, and doing push-ups in order to do well on the PFE as well as at AIM.
What do you expect to have in common with your fellow AIMsters?
I expect that my fellow AIMsters will be motivated like myself and ready to take on the challenge of AIM and the rigorous application process, which we will go through this coming year. I look forward to being surrounded by like-minded people who are hard-working and driven.
What are you most looking forward to?
At AIM, I look forward to testing my limits. I have heard that AIM is as close as you can get to swab summer, so I’m excited to experience the challenges with my fellow USCGA candidates.
Any hesitations about your AIM week?
None at all, I am honored to have been selected to have this opportunity, and I can’t wait to make the most out of this week.
What do your peers think about your service academy aspirations?
Because the Coast Guard Academy has been my dream for so long, many of my peers know a lot about the service academies and respect my drive towards this goal.
