IDE Career Paths

Engineers are in high demand in the Coast Guard and industry.  Five of the engineering-focused mission support units are Engineering & Logistics, Prevention Policy, Command, Control, Computer, Cyber, & Intel, and Acquisitions.

Engineering & Logistics looks after Coast Guard assets, from air to water, while Prevention Policy oversees the private sector maritime industry.  Command, Control, Computer, Cyber, & Intel encompasses Coast Guard infrastructure and activities, and Acquisitions oversees the acquisition, integration and delivery of assets and system to the Coast Guard.  A strong engineering background positions our graduates well to contribute and lead within these Coas Guard units.

IDE graduates can pursue a wide range of CG sub-specialties in engineering and other disciplines and have plentiful job opportunities when they leave the Coast Guard.
