Steven Blum, M.S., P.E., Lieutenant Commander
LCDR Steven Blum grew up in Farmington, CT. He graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 2008 with a degree in Civil Engineering, and was a member of the Basketball and Track and Field teams. He completed his first tour on the USCGC CHASE in San Diego, CA as Student Engineer and then went to the University of Illinois for graduate school. He completed tours as a design engineer and construction project manager at Civil Engineering Unit Providence, and as the assistant facility engineer at Base Alameda. From 2017 to 2020 he served in the Office of Budget and Programs (CG-82) at Coast Guard Headquarters. LCDR Blum came back to the Coast Guard Academy to teach Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2020, and became part of the Mathematics Department in 2023.
