The Coast Guard Academy Cheerleading Team attended the Island Championships Competition in Wildwood, New Jersey this past weekend. The Team’s competition routine took months of planning, practice, and learning advanced skills. They competed in the Traditional College category, which allowed for flexibility with stunt and tumbling levels and placed first for “Traditional College” and “Grand Champions” for college level!
“I’m so proud of this Team for making it this far. This is the first time the Cheerleading Team has ever competed, and to have earned such a fantastic win for our first time is incredible! Can’t wait for our next season to compete again!” said Second Class Cadet Kyra Lay, Team Captain.
