How did you hear of the Coast Guard Academy?
I was introduced to the Coast Guard Academy through a family friend who is a cadet at the Academy (Class of 2026). He invited my family and I to come and visit the Academy. While there he showed us the campus and told us all about the Academy and its values which sparked my desire to attend the Coast Guard Academy.
What is the #1 thing you’ve done to prepare for AIM so far?
My main focus preparing for AIM has been solely centered around physically getting my body in shape. I have focused on push-ups, sit-ups, and running to be prepared for the physical challenge of AIM and to score well on my PFE.
What do you expect to have in common with your fellow AIMsters?
I expect to have a similar desire to push myself and show the AIM cadre and other staff what I am capable of. I also expect to share a desire in wanting to learn what it is like to be a cadet at the Coast Guard Academy.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to getting a taste of what Academy life is like; I believe it will play a strong role in furthering my desire to attend the Academy. I am also looking forward to meeting new people and building relationships with them, as well as meeting coaches.
Any hesitations about your AIM week?
I am slightly concerned I may not be in proper shape, as I am not entirely sure how demanding AIM will be.
What do your peers think about your service academy aspirations?
Some of my peers in my class are questioning why I would want to attend a service academy, while others are impressed with the desire to attend a service academy. Many of the adults in my life are very interested and supportive of my desire to attend a service academy which is very encouraging.
