Welcome to the Coast Guard Family!

The Parents Association is an active non-profit organization whose members are the parents of cadets and graduates. The mission of the Parents Association is straightforward – to support the Corps of Cadets and their families.

Parents are cordially invited to meet Parents Association representatives on Day One when your son or daughter reports. There will be an opportunity to join our group, meet current members of your local chapter, buy some gear, connect with families who live near you, and see how the Association can be part of your family’s Academy experience.

Parent Observer Account Instructions

All communications regarding pre-arrival tasks and information will be passed via CGA’s Canvas Learning Management System.  All members of the class of 2029 have been provided Canvas accounts. Parents are invited to create a Canvas observer account to view important information and assist students with completing required forms.  Instructions for parents to create a Canvas observer account are given below. If you run into any technical difficulties, contact the CGA Information Services Helpdesk at: helpdesk@uscga.edu or 860-444-8324.

  • The student selects the Account menu on Canvas and then Settings as shown

  • Locate the right side of Settings Page
  • Select 'Pair with Observer'

  • Copy the Pairing Code
  • Send Pairing Code to person (parent) who will create an Observer Account

  • Fill out the parent information and enter the student provided pairing code from Step 3.

  • The observer account setup process is now complete.
  • Observers can access the Swab Summer 2029 course.
  • Parents are encouraged to help soon-to-be swabs prepare for arrival to CGA on Day One
  • Complete all required pre-arrival forms

  • After Day One, all observer accounts will be deleted, and swabs will be the only ones able to access their CGA Canvas accounts
