How did you hear of the Coast Guard Academy?
My father was a 1997 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy and has provided a lot of insight into his time spent serving. The stories he has shared with me over the years regarding his academy endeavors and active-duty commitments were what truly drew my attention to this astonishing organization.
What is the #1 thing you’ve done to prepare for AIM?
The number one thing I have done to prepare for AIM is research all the activities that the program offers so that I am prepared for any physical or academic challenges that may arise throughout the week. I have spent an extensive amount of time formulating and executing a workout regime that is consistent with the physical fitness exam’s curriculum. In preparation, I created a schedule that forces me to wake up and work out early in the morning to manage the rest of my activities throughout the day appropriately.
What do you expect to have in common with your fellow AIMsters?
I expect that all of us will have a very driven and hardworking mindset. I also think that many of us will be eager to face the challenges that the week entails and learn new knowledge about the Coast Guard. I want to meet like-minded individuals who all have a passion for servant leadership and the betterment of our society.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to being exposed to all that the Coast Guard has to offer and figuring out if I can see myself pursuing a career within the organization. I look forward to meeting new people and forming connections with the individuals attending AIM who may be my classmates in the future. I believe that the AIM experience will offer its attendees a week that shapes a lifetime.
Any hesitations about your AIM week?
I am nervous about not getting a sufficient amount of sleep while attending, but I am super eager to stay busy and proactive. I want to get the most out of my experience and I know that I will be able to overcome any challenge that I may encounter during my week.
What do your peers think about your service academy aspirations?
My peers think it is cool how committed I am to attending a service academy, and they respect my aspirations to serve and help others. They are very supportive of my endeavors and want to see me obtain this dream.
