Foundations for Life
The Loy Institute develops and delivers innovative and high impact co-curricular experiences to the Corps of Cadets. This includes the goal of having the Corps realized the high quality of their learning experience as it is occurring (a realization that has come to be known as “the epiphany”), developing pride in that experience, and acquiring the confidence and skills necessary to perform as a junior officer and leader of character for life.
To establish foundations for life, the Loy Institute hosts a Leadership Lecture Series that engages the Corps of Cadets and Academy faculty, staff and coaches. In the past, such guest speakers have included David McCormick of Bridgewater Associates at the RADM Wetmore Ethics Forum, Vice Admiral Manson Brown, USCG (ret) as the Eclipse Keynote, Admiral Paul Zukunft, USCG (ret) at the Commandant’s Address, and Admiral Charles Ray, USCG (ret) as our Tyler Chair in Leadership Development.
