LT Alyssa Milanese is an instructor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). She graduated from USCGA in 2016 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and began her career as a student engineer aboard USCGC TAMPA (WMEC 902) in Portsmouth, VA. Following her afloat tour, she served as a construction project manager at the U.S. Coast Guard Facilities Design & Construction Center in Norfolk, VA, where she oversaw multimillion-dollar infrastructure projects.
In 2022, LT Milanese earned an M.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Construction Engineering from Columbia University in the City of New York. She then returned to USCGA as a rotating military faculty member, where she teaches and mentors future Coast Guard officers. She is actively involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and serves as the faculty advisor for USCGA’s student chapter.
