Gambrills, MD – Class of 2026 Major: Management

1/c Aislinn MurrayOn the Study of Management

Studying Management at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy is about more than earning a degree, it’s about developing as a leader, thinker, and teammate. Every class challenges me to grow not only academically but also personally, as I learn to connect ideas, people, and experiences in ways that prepare me for the future. The program’s AACSB accreditation means that the education we receive meets the highest quality benchmarks and prepares us to compete with the best programs in the country. I am proud to be a part of the School of Leadership and Management.

On the Faculty

One of the greatest strengths of the program is the faculty. They are not just teachers, they are mentors who genuinely care about their students’ growth. Whether in the classroom or in one-on-one conversations, they take time to challenge us, guide us, and invest in who we are becoming as leaders. The faculty’s encouragement has pushed me to step into leadership roles and to think critically about the kind of leader I want to be.

On a Real-World Education

What makes the Management program stand out is how practical it is. We do not just learn theories, we apply them to real-world challenges, case studies, and projects that mirror the decisions leaders face daily. The Management major has also fostered the importance of relationships. It has given me opportunities to connect with people across all class years and faculty through the Cadet Management Association, where I, along with cadets from all class years, have the opportunity to serve as a class representative and become Co-Presidents as 1/c. These opportunities have strengthened my ability to communicate, problem-solve, and lead others, all skills that are essential for both the Academy and future Coast Guard service.
