Nicholas (Nick) Winiarski, MBA, MSF, Lieutenant Commander, USCG

NWiniarski Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Nick Winiarski graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting while working full-time for a Certified Public Accountant’s office reviewing general ledgers and processing payroll for 50 small businesses around Phoenix, Arizona. After a follow-on position as a Staff Accountant for an insurance company, he enlisted in the Coast Guard and was assigned to the USCGC POLAR SEA (WAGB-11) where he was a non-rate in the deck department and made trips to the Arctic Circle and down to Antarctica. After this tour, he successfully graduated Boatswain’s Mate A-school and was assigned to STATION WOODS HOLE where he was a Coxswain and Boarding Officer conducting Search and Rescue & Law Enforcement boardings. In 2010, LCDR Winiarski reported to the USCGC DILIGENCE where he worked in the Navigation division and was responsible for readying the ship for safe navigation. In 2011, LCDR Winiarski graduated Officer Candidate School and was subsequently assigned to Sector Houston-Galveston as an Apprentice Marine Inspector where he earned multiple Port State Control and Domestic vessel qualifications. In 2014, LCDR Winiarski arrived at Sector Boston where he served multiple roles to include: Chief of Facilities, Domestic vessel inspector, Command Duty Officer, and Senior Investigations Officer. In 2017, LCDR Winiarski was selected to attend post graduate school at Boston College where he earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance. Prior to reporting to the Management Department as a rotating military instructor in 2022, LCDR Winiarski served as the Funds Manager for Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber, and Intelligence (C5I) Service Center, responsible for executing $250 million of funding related to the Coast Guard network infrastructure. LCDR Winiarski resides in Oakdale, CT with his wife, Lori, and their two sons, Ben and Ryan. He spends his free time cycling, cooking, and enjoying family time.
