Karen Wink, Ph.D.
Dr. Karen A. Wink has taught 4/c (freshman) composition and literature courses as well as upper-class Global Myths/Epics and other literature courses at the Academy for 25+ years. The New England Association of Teachers of English (NEATE) gave her an “Excellence in Teaching English” award for her many years of quality teaching at CGA. Dr. Wink has spoken at many regional and national conferences on her research interests that include Rhetoric and Composition Pedagogy; Feedback Practices for Student Writing; Connecting Greek Values, Ideals, and Traditions to Modern Culture as well as Pedagogy for Shakespeare’s Comedies and Tragedies. Her major publications include: (1) Rhetorical Strategies for Composition, a student text published in 2016 (and used in CGA’s introductory composition course); (2) The Feedback Process: Engaging Students with Meaningful Comments about Their Writing, a text for Humanities’ instructors published in 2022; and (3) Effective Public Speaking for the Coast Guard’s Junior Officers, for CG’s officers and enlisted members—to launch at all CG stations in 2025.
