Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)

Open to cadets in all majors, the Geospatial Intelligence Certificate is a sequence of specialized courses that cuts across several officer specialty fields. Completion of this program expands assignment opportunities in the Coast Guard, and opens a diverse range of career pathways in the civilian sector.

Overview

The Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Certificate is overseen by the Marine Science Department. It is open to all cadets with available electives. The curriculum prepares cadets to locate, evaluate, and analyze geospatial data to forecast outcomes and solve operational problems. Graduates are prepared for advanced study in the field, and to seek related careers in the civilian sector, where these skills are in high demand.
CORE (required)

  • Geospatial Science I or Introduction to Geospatial Science
  • Remote Sensing
  • Intelligence and Cyber Operations
  • Geospatial Science II

ELECTIVES (choose one)

  • Emergency Management
  • Polar Oceanography
  • Research in Geospatial Science

CAPSTONE (required): Capstone Research I, II, III (GEOINT) or Summer Internship (GEOINT).

GEOINT Certificate Accreditation

The GEOINT Certificate is accredited by the United States Geospatial-Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).
